We will be heading over to the Gambia this week but thought to let you know about a recent show that was held in the Gambia last week to showcase the work of West Africa fashion designers and put West Africa on the map as an important destination for fashion. And to give the 17 countries from West Africa with a population of over 300 million, the recognised platform they deserve.
With a range of young as well as established designers showing their collections on the catwalk, and a growing interest in African designers the WAFW attracts an audience of brands, buyers and press.
With a full schedule of catwalk shows, trade fairs, presentations, international artists, lectures and parties West Africa Fashion Week is planned to be held once a year this fashion week forms the centre-point of the West Africa countries with the next event in 2012 in Gambia gain then 2013 to be held in Ghana.
Last week it took place in the Coco Ocean Resort & Spa a beautiful 5 star hotel resort alongside the beautiful beaches of The Gambia.
